School of International Education

School of International Education (SIE) of Wuhan Sports University was founded in 2009. It is in charge of the overseas student programs and international cooperation programs as well as the English language and literature program. SIE provides quality education so that the students are equipped to cope up with the challenges of the globalization and serve the society.

SIE is open to self-funded overseas students and those applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship with undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programs. It has developed partnerships with higher education institutions in many countries, including those in Britain, Korea, New Zealand, Australia, the United States, Canada, and Poland etc. At present, it has 600 full-time students, including overseas students, English majors, students from international exchange programs, and students from joint exercise rehabilitation program with Griffith University.

SIE has31teaching and professional services staff at U, including 3 professors, 7 associate professors, 7 lecturers and 3 assistant lecturers. In the past five years, they have undertaken two projects sponsored by the National Social Science Fund, presided over ten different kinds of research projects at the provincial level and won two prizes of scientific research at provincial-ministerial-level. They have also edited several textbooks such asEnglish Sports Literatureand written books such asSpeech Acts and Intertextuality of Don DeLillo’s Game 6: A Pragmatic Study.

SIE is well equipped with 4 language labs, 1 self-access centre,1 situation interactive language laband 8 multi-media classrooms. The students and teachers have taken part in services for translation and interpretation for International University Students Cheer-leading Competition, Nanning 2014 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, Wuhan Tennis Open and so on. It has also worked with Wuhan Transn and Wuhan Global Translatus.

With its successful experience in international higher education, SIE has graduate students who have successfully continued their studies at the overseas partner universities or at Chinese universities. The students’ one-time employment rate is in the forefront of the whole school, especially the employment rate of graduate students of the international exchange program is 100% for consecutive years.
