The Oromo are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, at 40% of the nation's population. The Amhara represent 20% of its inhabitants, while the Tigray and Somali represent 8% and 6% of the population.

It is a country in plateau, also known as the Horn of Africa. Despite wars and poverty, let’s discover this colorful country together.

In Ethiopia, everyone is a devout believer. This is a tolerable country to allow Christians, Muslims and traditional religion believers to pray in one church. “Yes, we go to church with our family very often, to pray for the livings.” the foreign student from Ethiopia told us “I haven’t found a church in here, but I still pray every night. It’s my belief.”

All the people in Ethiopia love to decorate their bodies with bright color. “Look at this, we usually decorate ourselves during festivals and go out to decorate others. We really enjoy it.” the foreign student pointed at a picture with excitement, “but we don’t wear yellow, it is the color for ritual.”

Meanwhile, in Ethiopia, people usually bow to greet. “We may tend to take more time in greeting, real businesses have to wait until we finish greeting.” the foreign student said, “We prefer oral communication and eye contact, rather than mobile phone contact.”

As a country which is famous for coffee, they love coffee just like they love sunshine. The hostesses here always wear formal clothes to prepare authentic coffee for guests. They also like to provide guests row beef, and take it as the most important tradition. “When always invites our guests to have meat, it’s always row beef, which is really delicious.”

This is a country with long history, diverse religions and delicious coffee, and we are all longing to know more about Ethiopia.
